Why we started 808 Restricted
Most e-commerce marketing agencies are built for brands that fit neatly into a platform’s default rules. Standard products, standard audiences, standard ad policies. But a growing number of operators are running brands that don’t fit that mold — complex product categories, specialized or age-restricted audiences, platform constraints that change the playbook, or lean internal teams wearing more hats than headcount allows.
808 Restricted exists for that second group.
Who we work with
We work with owners and operators of established or growing e-commerce brands who are navigating one or more of the following:
- A product category with its own platform, advertising, or regulatory considerations
- A specialized or restricted audience that requires careful, compliant handling
- A lean internal team that needs senior strategic leadership without a full-time executive hire
- A marketing stack that’s grown faster than the systems and reporting behind it
Every regulated or specialized category has its own rules — we don’t assume one playbook applies everywhere, and we build our recommendations around your specific constraints.
How we’re structured
We’re intentionally lean. 808 Restricted is founder-led, backed by established marketing software and a small bench of vetted specialist contractors, with AI-assisted workflows used to speed up reporting, drafting, and operational work. We don’t claim to run a proprietary AI platform, and we don’t pad engagements with unnecessary headcount — you get senior strategic attention paired with the right execution for the job.
What’s next
Future articles here will cover practical topics across our core services: fractional e-commerce marketing leadership, SEO and organic growth, email lifecycle and retention, and AI-enabled marketing operations. If you’re navigating a growth challenge in a complex or restricted category, we’d like to hear about it.
